Right
from the moment we walked into Lisaard House, I felt warmly welcomed.
We were met at the door by the appropriate staff and they even knew
our names. Everyone went out of their way to make my husband and I
feel at home. The staff had a comfortable way of getting Earl settled
into the new environment, his room and his bed without causing too
much disturbance in just moments.
If
Earl could not be at home anymore, I couldn’t think of a better place
for him to spend the last part of his life’s journey. The staff were
always well informed of his changing condition and personal needs.
Earl was treated with dignity and respect as an individual, not just
a patient. I feel very blessed that Lisaard House had a room for Earl
in his time of need.

After my husband Earl’s death, I did not enter Lisaard House for
about 10 months. When I did, I felt apprehensive about the surroundings
and the people I would see. However, it didn’t take long to feel just
like home again with the same staff being there welcoming me.
During
our family meetings, our group became a little family with all of
us sharing our sorrows and joys. There were days we would cry together,
but mostly we shared laughter with one another while reminiscing about
our loved ones. The precious time spent with people in the group brought
me out of my shell and helped me proceed with my life.
The
facilitator of Family Time was very accommodating, many times letting
the group change the agenda and take over the meeting. I thank Lisaard
House for the wonderful opportunity I was given to be part of such
a sharing time.
